YESSS! However making wine use alsa only solved the problem. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wine\Drivers Set Audio to alsa To restore Ubuntu's default value, repeat the first 2 steps and then set Audio to pulse.
- Pulse enabled builds of wine tend to have just as many sound problems as they fix, with tons of apps/games lacking sound that works fine in vanilla wine.
- On the wine-multimedia AUR page, I did post a working 1.3.36 pkgbuild with a pulse driver, but it is quite hackish and should not be used unless you're desperate to use
- If you find you are having choppy or no audio with some applications, then check to ensure the PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC variable is unset, and that you're using default buffering values in /etc/pulse/daemon.conf.

There is no setting to change that. Playonlinux No Sound This git repo is usually a few versions behind the official vanilla wine release. Don’t know for sure if the AUR would have it or not. One thing you can try is switching Wine's compatibility mode between Windows 7 and Windows XP.

So, to close the question, the answer is: Delete the wine prefix using winetricks and rerun winecfg. In his case you can do a lot more. From the “HD Audio Generic” part, it lists “HDMI 0” and “ALC892 Digital”. I'd appreciate any advice on this as well. The driver should work well, but there are some known issues with unusual audio buffer and latency settings.
