Also, my DirectTV receivers are not connecting or showing up in the attached devices area. I tried to ping 184.108.40.206 & 220.127.116.11 (google public dns servers) with cygwin ping, but I couldn't reach them. I reiterate that I didn't change any settngs. Wired Connection Not Working But Wireless Does
Thanks for all your help trying to figure it out! All Rights Reserved. It says "this webpage is not available", so I cannot even get into the Genie to try to set it up. I use a Windows 7 laptop.
- But it really seems like the router is either oblivious to some setting coming from the modem that's preventing the laptop or desktop from connecting, or the router is more savvy
- Scenario 1: LAN wire directly connected from Modem to my laptop(Modem ---->Laptop).

- The NIC on the desktop is an onboard controller on a gigabyte mainboard.
- Previously when i was running the bridged connection, everything was fine.
- Believe it or not, this might tell you that the ethernet is working.

- I had made the manual settings, closed it, the LAN looked for the connection to no avail, then I pinged the gateway again and this came up.
I achieve internet by turning off all equipments then turning on in order(Modem, router then laptop)...after achieving the internet in this method, if i plug in the LAN cable directly from I am connected through the desktop wireless so this appears to be a LAN connection problem on the router. I dual boot the desktop with ubuntu, however, and I won't get into how that doesn't work, but suffice it to say, it can't connect to the internet either.
